Kitchen Reno: Making More Space

I just wanted to quickly show how taking out a chimney breast can make a big difference in a space/room.  This example is in my own kitchen where there was a chimney breast surrounding the stove.  This took up valuable counter space as well as much wanted and usable wall space.  See the difference below:

Kitchen before…with chimney breast.

Kitchen after…chimney breast removed.

As you can see, there is now 2 extra storage spaces on either side of the extractor fan as well as much more depth with the counter space.  Not only that, it also gives the area a nice streamlined, clean look which is exactly what I was after!   In the process we also removed the chimney breasts in the 2 rooms directly above the kitchen which made rooms that were once awkward and slightly cramped into 2 very good sized, well proportioned bedrooms.  Well worth the effort!
